Elphinstone is a small village in East Lothian approx. 11 miles from Edinburgh and surrounded by countryside. It is situated approx. 2 miles from Tranent, 3 miles from Ormiston village and 5 miles from Musselburgh.
There is a small general store within Elphinstone, a primary school (approx. 5 minutes’ walk) and a community centre. Nearby Ormiston has a post office, medical centre and a pub and a Co-op supermarket. Barratt Homes will shortly be releasing new homes at Yew Gardens in Ormiston.
A local bus service from Elphinstone links to Tranent for further amenities, shops, supermarkets (Asda / Aldi), medical centre, Ross High School and the Loch Community Centre which houses a gym, pool and other sporting / public amenities.
Further amenities, including a Marks & Spencer and an Odeon cinema, are available at Fort Kinnaird retail park (approx. 7 miles) which is easily accessible from the nearby A1 which also provides links to the city bypass and Edinburgh city centre (approx. 11 miles).
Prestonpans is the closest railway station with a journey time of approx. 14 minutes into Edinburgh Waverley. There is a local bus service from Elphinstone to the station. Edinburgh Airport is approximately 23 miles away.
East Lothian offers excellent outdoor pursuits with numerous golf courses, beaches, walking, cycling and horse riding tracks.
